He was predeceased by: his parents, Beatrice Hughes Sharpe and Edward Greer Sharpe; and his siblings, Betty Rector and Billie Stewart. He is survived by: his wife Margarett Young Sharpe; his children, Cynthia Sharpe (Dwain Swing) of Bakersville, Sammie Sharpe (Kurt DeMann) of Bakersville and Edward Hughes Sharpe II of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren, Seth Burleson (Jessica) of Fuquay Varina, NC, Dylan Burleson (Brandee) of Spruce Pine, Rachel Donnelly (Jason) of Greenville, SC and Annalise Metcalf of Illinois; his great grandchildren, Aidan, Raelyn, Laira, Avee, Bree and Allister; and his nieces and nephews, Lynn Stewart Long, Gail Rector Peterson, Jim and Bill Rector.
