He is survived by: his daughters, Shawna Hughes (John) of Piney Flats, TN and Kayla Boyter (Joseph) of Marion, NC; his brothers, Charles Ward (Margaret) of Bakersville, NC and Rick Ledford (Ellen) of Bakersville, NC; and his grandson Joshua Carter Hughes.
