She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Thomas Eakes and Daisy Mae Oakley Eakes; and her siblings, George Thomas Eakes, Charlie Eakes, Edward Preston Eakes (Duck), Mahalia Lou Crabtree and Mary Alice Castle.
She is survived by: her daughter Norma Jean Ellis; her grandchildren, Tiffany Ellis-Gentry, Ashley La'Shelle Guzman, Kevin Lee Kimbrough Jr. and Tyler Scott Kimbrough; and her sisters, Bettie Polson, Rachel Blackwell (Larry) and Connie Rose Currin. She is also survived by 4 great-granddaughters; 5 great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Mt. Harmony Baptist Church: 1655 Mt Harmony Church Rd, Rougemont, NC 27572.
