He was predeceased by: his daughter Norma Legget; his son-in-law Mark Reddick; and his siblings, Walter Harris, Mitchell Harris, Bertha Rice, Hilda Hollard, Florence Gaskins and Virginia Norris.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Bell Harris; his children, Kenneth Harris of Fountain, NC and Debra Reddick of Farmville, NC; and his brother Talmadge (Viola Harris) of Greenville, NC.. He is also survived by six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
