He was predeceased by: his parents, Cordis Hayes and Mabel Gunn Hayes; his stepmother Jimmie Barnett; his former wife Esther Stone Hayes; his wife Jessie McLawhon Hayes; his son George Hayes; his sons-in-law, Jerry Jones and Graham Gray; and his great grandchildren, Holt Barrow, Allie Whaley and Layla Grace Jones.
He is survived by: his daughter Nada Sue Jones; his stepchildren, Brenda Gray, Bud McLawhon (Judy), Clay McLawhon (Julie) and Debra Whaley (Mike); his grandsons, Jeff Jones (Karen) and John Jones (Loan); and his stepgrandchildren, Denise Love (Joel), Regina Johnston (Jay), Tammy Price (Brian), Selena Barrow (Ricky), Dana Brown (Mark), Brock Whaley (Abby), Amie Worley (Jason), Sarah Jones (Sam) and Hannah Batchelor (Matt). He is also survived by one great grandson, eighteen step great grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren.
