He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Hales and Ola Matthews Hales; his wife Retha Carter Hales; his sister Joyce Ann Hales; and his adoptive daughter Lucy Harris.
He is survived by: his daughter Rose Marie Reeves (Jimmy) of Autryville; his grandchildren, Jessica Rogers (Blake) of Holly Springs, Jerica D'Amico of Stedman, Anna Quinones (Shaquinn) of Godwin and Charlotte Reeves of Texas; his great grandchildren, Bowen Rogers, Fallon Rogers, Raylan D'Amico and Levi Hall; and his sister Frances Lewis of Charlotte. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hall's United Methodist Church, 4621 Minnie Hall Road, Autryville, NC 28318, Services entrusted to Butler Funeral Home, 401 W. Roseboro Street, Roseboro, NC.
