He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Verne Sr., Dorothy Jackson, Buck and Helen Carter; and his granddaughter Kalani Jackson.

He is survived by: his parents, Rebecca Light (Buddy) and Verne Jackson Jr. (Linda); his daughter Kayla Jackson; his grandchild Ayana Jackson; his sisters, Tonya Creech (Johnnie), Lisa Lofton (Jeff) and Jamie Evans (Ozzie); and his pet LuLu. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial contributions towards Derrick's final expenses would be greatly appreciated.
