He was predeceased by: his parents, Emlis Tearthur and Clyde Smith Lassiter; and his siblings, Woody, Starkie Lassiter, Texanna Lassiter, Katie Shores, Carrie Lassiter, Rosa Parks, Allie Mae Byrd and Audrey Copeland.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Jewell Lassiter Jilcott (Steven) of Eure, NC and Samuel L. Lassiter (Tammy) of Aulander, NC; his grandchildren, Steven Jilcott, Jr. (Bethany) of Foxboro, Bryan Jilcott of Weaverville, NC, Lane Rice (Aaron) of Rome, GA and Carol Lassiter (Richard Cary) of Roanoke, VA; his great grandchildren, Kati Fletcher Rice and Henry Rice; and his brother Jerry Lassiter. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
