He was predeceased by: his father Johnny. He is survived by: his wife Carol Thorne Salter; his daughter April Michelle Morton; his son-in-law Wes of Gastonia; his grandchildren, Joshua Morton (Rebekah) of Carolina Beach and Jalen Morton (Emily) of Gastonia; and his siblings, Sandra Lewis of Bettie, William "Billy" Salter (Cheryl) of New Bern, Kim Salter (Marjorie) of Atlantic and Glen Salter of Atlantic. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
