He was predeceased by: his parents, William Bushar and Jeanne Dougherty Bushar. He is survived by: his wife Linda Bushar; his daughters, Leslie Morse (Wes) of Mills River, Amy Powell (Will) of Salem, VA and Lauren Youngkin (Ben) of Asheville; his sister Carolyn Highhouse of Mt. Carmel, IL; his grandchildren, Erin, Ali Scannell, Liam, Thomas Powell, Isaac and Ellie Youngkin; his nieces, Adrienne Highhouse and Ginger Coronato; and his nephew Jason Doolittle.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the West Family Funeral Services (17 Merrimon Ave, Weaverville, NC 28787). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of West Funeral Home (17 Merrimon Ave, Weaverville, NC 28787).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the Asheville Symphony Chorus (http://ashevillesymphonychorus.com), the Asheville Symphony, or the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy.

“Tom sang bass in my men's choir in LaGrange, GA. He played guitar and he founded The Regeneration folk group. Under his leadership many people got to enjoy their music. Tom provided excellent leadership and he connected with their audiences. Pat and I are grateful that God in His Divine Providence caused our paths to cross with Tom's. We send our condolences to Linda and the family and pray for God's peace during this time of loss.”
