She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Dewey and Agnes Mae Watson (Kent); her former husband Donald Thomas Stroupe; and her siblings, Ray Heatherley, Terry Watson and Jo Mussey.
She is survived by: her spouse Carmon "Dean" Payne of Asheville; her daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Stroupe Granger (Kevin) of Pineville, NC and Carman Payne Griffin (Mark) of Asheville; her granddaughter Mackenzie Hitt; and her stepgrandchildren, Ryan, Christopher Granger and Amy Ingle White. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
