He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Smith and Beatrice McCarson Smith; his siblings, Sandra Sisco, Hazel Goodwin and Ted Smith; his siblings-in-law, Shirley Smith and Zack Embler; and his nephew Kevin Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Cagle Smith; his children, Beatrice Mae Dawson and Roy Allen Smith, Jr.; his grandchildren, Samantha Sanford, Stephen Dawson and Christopher Dawson; and his siblings, Gladys Embler, Jimmy Smith, Dell Sams (Ivan), Terry Smith and Sherry Worley (Dean). He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
