Scott Finney wrote a sympathy message

“I met Louis through my wife Laura, and when she lost her father 10 years ago he was more than just a surrogate father. Maye and Louis both became parents to Laura. Louis was one of the most steadfast and honest men I have ever known. He would have truly given you his shirt off his back, and I'm sure at onetime he actually did!! I would go over to the house to help with a little something small and he would not leave my side. Always helping and showing me where to find tools. I will miss you”

Mark Carissimi wrote a sympathy message

“Maye and Louis, Please accept condolences on behalf of myself and my wife Jill. I was fortunate to have worked in the Baltimore Regional office from 1980 to 1986. Lou was the Regional Attorney when I arrived in the office and ,of course, later became the Regional Director. I was privileged to have worked for him during those years. Lou was loved and respected by everyone in the office. He was a wonderful person and I know you will both miss him very much. Mark Carissimi”

“Lou was “salt of the earth.” His devotion to worker rights and the law were admirable. I fondly remember our many conversations over the years, even when he retired to Asheville. What a great guy. He will be missed. Condolences to his family. Jackie Young”

Dean Burrell wrote a sympathy message

“I worked for Lou at Region 5 during the 90's. He was a wonderful, irascible individual. I really liked him and visa-versa (especially since I yelled back).. I was the union representative and during a NLRB golf outing (where we shared a cart) he tripped in a gopher hole and was limping the next day. He told everyone I didn't like his answer to a grievance and kicked him! Lou taught me a lot and I will always think fondly of him.”

“Dear Maye and Louis, I worked in Region 5 in the early and mid-‘90s under Louie. He was a kind and caring person and an outstanding RD who believed in the Act to his core. Lou was a major influence on my life and career, for which I’ll always be grateful. My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time. With deepest sympathy, -Jim Rosenberg”

Glenn Zipp wrote a sympathy message

“Decades ago when the NLRB opened a subregional office in Peoria, IL (1964) Lou and I were part of the initial staff under Bob Allen OIC . My first wife Maike and I became social friends of Lou and his wife Nancy, and spent many a delightful evening planning cribbage and other card games. You could not ask for a nicer colleague or friend. They both were wonderful people whose memories I will cherish. Glenn Zipp”
