With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Shade (Asheville, North Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 9, 2024. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ulysses Mills Sr. and Naneva Turner; her siblings, Charles Mills, James Mills, Kenneth Mills, Walter Mills, Ulysses Mills Jr., Carolyn Collington and Eulastine Smith; her in-laws, Louis, Frances Shade and Louise Shade; and her nephews, Dwight Collington, Danko McQueen and Kedrick Green.
She is survived by: her husband James L. Shade, Sr.; her sons, James Shade Jr. and Spencer Shade; her siblings-in-law, Trina Mills and Curtis Shade; her grandchildren, Shayla, Deshawn, Darrian, Tristan, Whitney, Eboni, Ahjanae and Whisper; her close friend Faye Reynolds; and her friend Joan. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
