He was predeceased by: his parents, James Robert Clontz and Mary Jo Blalock; his son Robert Dale Clontz; his brother Larry James Clontz; and his uncle George Blalock.
He is survived by: his wife Eva; his sister Judith Morosani (George) of Asheville; his children, Tamora Clontz of Old Fort, Kimberly Murdoch (John) of Asheville and Michael Clontz (Melissa) of Marion; his grandchildren, Christopher Kiser (Ginger), Aimee Merrill (Daniel), Nikki Morris (Jonathan), Anndi Murdoch, Autumn Murdoch, Brianna Olinger (Jordon), Heather Clontz, Ryan Clontz and Tyler Clontz; and his cousin Donald Clontz.
