She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Carney and Beulah Bescher Hinson; her husband Barney George Phillips; her daughter Cathy Phillips; and her sister Glennie Hancock.

She is survived by: her children, Donna Hall of Randleman, Wanda Stewart (Kevin) of Robbins and Doyle Phillips (Amanda) of Carthage; her siblings, Betsy Leach of High Point, Evelyn Burrow (Autry), Lucille Johnson of Asheboro, Panzie Smith of Asheboro, Deborah Palmisano (David), John Hinson (Betty) of Asheboro, Harold Hinson (Joyce) of Siler City and Donald Hinson of Asheboro; and her grandchildren, Steven Furr of Greensboro, Natalie Linebarrier of Asheboro, Jonathan Biddix of Cherokee, Joshua Biddix of Hamlet, Taylor Biddix of Cherokee, Stephanie Oates of Cameron, Aly Phillips of Carthage and Nicholas Phillips of Carthage. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
