He was predeceased by: his parents, Weldon "Dickie" Sands and Betty Farmer Bullins; his sister Kathy Ann Cross; and his stepfather Harry Bullins. He is survived by: his children, Gwendolyn Sands and Stephen D. Sands, Jr.; his siblings, Tina Sands Morris, Judy Goolsby, Sammy Roland Bullins and Harry Lee Bullins; his brother-in-law Jody Cross; and his grandchildren, Tiffany, Erica and Justin.
