He was predeceased by: his siblings, Agnes Bass, Inez Walters, James and George Herring; and his daughter-in-law Bonnie Campbell Herring.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Herring; his children, Rufus Herring, Jr., Arthur Herring, Becky Brennan (David) and Tammy Herring; his grandsons, Sgt. Joseph Herring, James Brennan, Joshua Brennan and Steven Herring; his great grandchildren, Kallie and Emery; his sister Judy Rogers; and his nieces and nephews, Kim, Rodney and Sharon.
