He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Smith Sr. and Elizabeth Northrop Smith; and his brother-in-law John Palmerton. He is survived by: his girlfriend Patricia Plimley; his sons, Richard James Smith III and Kyle Smith; his siblings, Susan Palmerton, Elizabeth Weatherup and George Smith; his stepchildren, Tommy Plimley, Angela Plimley and Kaitlyn Plimley; and his stepgrandchildren, Jayden, Noah and Mason.
