He was predeceased by: his parents, Rupert Thornburg and Fannie Varner Thornburg; and his brothers, Jason and Leon Thornburg. He is survived by: his wife Meredith Gallimore Thornburg; his daughters, Jennifer "Jenni" T. Breedlove (Heath) of Asheboro and Laura T. Garner of Asheboro; his grandchildren, Cami, Carson Garner and Lauran Breedlove; his great grandchild Braxton Vick; and his siblings, Roger Thornburg (Chris) of Tennessee and Sandra Routh (Randy) of Randleman.
