Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me
To be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow
Of smiles
When life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering
Softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
And bright sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
To dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done.

Dan Greenfield wrote a sympathy message

“I worked with "Nancy Lee" at WCHL in Chapel Hill from 1981, when, as program director, she hired me for my first radio job (!), until she moved on in 1985. Nancy was first a mentor, then a colleague and friend, a special part of my first radio "family". I regret we lost touch since the 90s, but I have so many fond memories of her and her talent and upbeat personality. And yes, a (sometimes off-beat) sense of humor, with the most infectious laugh you ever heard. Miss you, Nancy.”

We sang together in church choirs from grade school through high school. Lucky us, to hear her beautiful voice. God bless you Nancy. We remember you well. Peace be yours,”

Cathy Benson wrote a sympathy message

“I was shocked to hear about Nancy's death. We were great friends in Durham in the late 70's when we were in our late 20's. We played cards, went to movies, hung out with a larger group of pals, and had a great time. We worked hard and played hard back in the day. I loved Nancy Lee very much and although we didn't see each other very often after I moved to DC and she to Florida, we talked every few years, and it was as if time had stood still. She was a good friend for over45 years. I'll miss her”

“Thank you Cathy for your kind words and reflection of your time together. I remember her talking about a friend, Cathy fondly. I shared you sympathy message with Lynn Bartlett. I am not sure if she was part of your circle of friends with Nancy. I find comfort in reading about those who knew Nancy during a time I we did not see each other very often. Best to you, Linda Walker (sister)”
