She was predeceased by: her husband Edward Howey; and her parents, Milas Carter and Ellie Helms Carter. She is survived by: her children, Paula Whitley of Asheboro and Doug Howey (Beth) of Raleigh; and her grandsons, Craig Whitley, Thomas Whitley, Evan Howey and Matthew Howey. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
