He was predeceased by: his siblings, Houshang Arasta, Parviz Arasta and Soraya Dowlatshahi; and his daughter Afsaneh "Afsi" Arasta. He is survived by: his wife Joan Blake Arasta; his son Ali John Arasta; his nieces, Sousan Dowlatshahi, Dr. Maryam Dowlatshahi of Beauchesne, France and Dr. Mercedes Arasta; his nephew Amir Arasta; his cousin Fereshteh "Feri" Jestice of Las Vegas; and also Jan.

He succumbed to Alzheimer's disease after a valiant and courageous journey of 8 years.
