He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Atlas Hilliard, Sr. and Lillie Morrison Hilliard; his wife Ethel McMasters Hilliard; his sisters, Ruth Stinson, Pat Luther and Betty Lyndon; and his nephews, Danny Stinson and Louis Luther.
He is survived by: his siblings, Hazel Ridge of Asheboro and James Hilliard of Greensboro.
