He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Atkins and Bertha Atkins; his former wife Creola Hutchens Atkins; and his siblings, Wesley Atkins, Alma Kellum and Alpha Bullins.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Cranford Hamilton-Atkins; his children, Chrystal A. Hutcherson (Curtis Leffue) of Altavista, VA, Imelda A. Lampley (Mark) of Santee, SC, Alan Atkins (Tracy) of Richfield, UT and Ellis Atkins (Crystal) of Statesville, NC; his stepchildren, Krista Hamilton Martinez (Freddy) of Asheboro and John Hamilton (Michele); his grandchildren, Kimberly Ragland, Karen Hutcherson, Angela Todd, Jonathan Lampley (Rachel), Morgan Atkins, Nathaniel Atkins, Ashleigh Atkins, Charleigh Atkins, Samuel Nelson and Abigail Noelle; and his great grandchildren, Adam Ritter, Lyndsay Ritter, Samantha Todd, Alexander Lampley, Abigail Lampley, Andrew Lampley, Kristina Hamilton, Alex Hamilton and Logan Hamilton.
