He was predeceased by: his wife Celesta Daley Wells; his parents, Henry Bradley and Ruth Coleman Wells; and his siblings, Sara Tillery, Mary Wells, Henry Bradley Wells, Jr., Gordon Wells and Lewis Thomas Wells.
He is survived by: his children, Janet Nance (Tommy) of Asheboro, Amy Camus (Glenn) and John Lee Wells, Jr. of Asheboro; his grandchildren, Melissa Gorman of Morrisville, John Lee Wells III, Kelly Camus of Durham and Jaclyn Camus; and his great grandchild Elijah Gorman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
