He was predeceased by: his wife Xantippie Robbins Cheek; his parents, Clarence Cheek and Gertrude Presnell Cheek; and his brother Lloyd Cheek. He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Lambeth (David) of Asheboro and John Branson Cheek, Jr. (Carla) of Asheboro; his grandchildren, Caroline Lambeth Fogleman, Autumn Cheek Dugas (Josh), John Branson Cheek III, David Lambeth, Jr. and Andrew Lamar (Marit); and his great grandchildren, Betsey Ann Lamar, Emersyn Fogleman, Brooks Lamar and Aurora Dugas.
