He was predeceased by: his parents, James Henry and Opal Louise Smith Kirkman; his siblings, Henretta Kirkman Cranford and Glen Harold Kirkman; his grandson Isaiah Matthews; and his great grandchild Liam Garcia.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Kirkman; his children, Donna Carol Matthews of Asheboro and James Michael Kirkman of Asheboro; his siblings, Louise Skeen of Asheboro, Jane King of Kernersville, Martha Vye of Canton, OH. and Joseph Daniel Kirkman of Asheboro; his grandchildren, Amber Brower, LaTeya Matthews, Teylor Matthews and Christian Garcia; and his great grandchild Elias Garcia.
