He was predeceased by: his parents, James Samuel and Lula Mae Butler Hancock; and his siblings, Curtis Lemons, John P. Hancock of Troy and Judy Sanders.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Parrish Hancock of Seagrove; his children, Savanna Brower (John, Jr.) of Asheboro and Gary Eaton (Brittany) of Rockingham; his siblings, Margaret Lemons of Montgomery County, Edna Marie Callicutt of Montgomery County, Elaine Sanders of Montgomery County, Mary Hamilton of Montgomery County, Donna Thompson of Montgomery County and Jerry Hancock; and his grandchildren, Hailey Brower and John Brower, III.
