He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Monroe Lane and Treva Mae Skeen Lane; his brother John Thomas Lane; and his niece Mirenda Lane. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Barbee Lane; his children, Karen Lane Robinson (Thomas) of Huntersville, NC and Charles Kevin Lane (Jessica) of Dallas, TX; his siblings, Peggy Lane Masteller of Raleigh, NC and Joseph Millis Lane (Nancy) of Daniel Island, SC; and his grandchildren, Cecilia Robinson, Ian Robinson, Taylor Robinson, Corbin Lane and Sarah Lane.
