He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Diane Brooks Alston; his parents, Eugene Alston and Gertrude Yancey Alston; and his brothers, Earl Alston and Billy Alston.
He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Spinks (Reginald) and Zakia Brown; his stepdaughter Celeste Turner; his son Douglas Alston (Jamie); his grandchildren, Camille Alston, Leah Switzer, Gabriel Alston, Scotty Switzer (Jessie) and Jacob Switzer; and his siblings, Louise Clay White (Grover), Michael Alston and Eugene Alston.
