He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Billy, Annie Bullins, Bobby and Jean Sparks; and his stepfather Bobby Jarrell.
He is survived by: his children, Abigail McKenzie Sparks, Nate Laughlin, R. J. Sparks and Axton Sparks; his parents, Annie Jarrell and Mitchell Sparks (Fe); his siblings, Leslie Underwood (Jacob), Brent Sparks (Danielle Nance) and Lorenze Sparks; his grandson Troy Laughlin; his aunts and uncles, Billy Bullins, Jr. (Kim), Mike Sparks, Ed Sparks, Mary Sue Bullins, Cathy Hurley and Sandy Bailey; his nieces, Roselyn Underwood and Rachel Underwood; and his nephew Josiah Underwood.
