He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Manuel and Thelma Brown Phillips. He is survived by: his wife Mary Allen Phillips; his children, Susan Phillips Williams (Grady) of Asheboro and Edward Mike Phillips (Sherrie) of Bennett; and his sister Ruth Davis (A. F.) of Erect. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons.
