He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Vernon Downing and Louise Howard Downing. He is survived by: his wife Debra "Debbie" Mosley Downing; his son Brian Wayne Downing (Layne Downing); his granddaughters, Maysa and Madigan Downing; his sisters, Gwynne Shuler (Mike), Betsye Copple and Ellen Lamb; his uncle Melvin Reece; and his pet Bosley Blu. He is also survived by six nieces, one nephew and many beloved great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the J. C. Green and Sons Funeral Home (122 W Main St, Thomasville, NC 27360). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the J. C. Green and Sons Funeral Home Chapel (122 W Main St, Thomasville, NC 27360).
