He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Goins and Lena Latham Goins; and his brother Steve L. Goins. He is survived by: his children, Angela Denise Goins Cagle of Asheboro, Marion Elizabeth Goins of Sophia, Dannie Goins, Jr. (Jenna) of Asheboro and Tyre Goins of North Wilkesboro; and his siblings, Janet Goins Ward (John), Craig Goins (Rachel) of Asheboro and Lennie Goins (Dee Dee) of Asheboro. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
