She was predeceased by: her parents, Rufus Wardell and Lucille Stein Lowe; her siblings, Betty Lorms and Henry A. Lowe; and her husband Sam A. Rankin, Sr..
She is survived by: her daughter-in-law Marjorie Moser Rankin; her grandchildren, Griffin R. Lamb (David) of Raleigh, Henry Wescott Rankin (Priscilla) of Greensboro, Mary Carlisle R. Harper (Patrick) of Asheville, Leigh Anne Brown (Pete Drolet) of Stuart, FL and Taylor Neil Slaughter of Wellington, FL; and her great grandchildren, Emmy, Spencer Lamb of Raleigh, Oliver, Drew Rankin of Greensboro, Faye Harper of Asheville and Eleanor Winfree Burnham of Wellington.
