He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Clarence Patterson and Edna Maness Patterson; his son Jeffrey "Jeff" Patterson; and his siblings, Patricia Patterson and Larry Patterson.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Davis Lovell Patterson; his daughter Lisa Trogdon (Darrell) of Randleman; his stepchildren, Sharon Bridgeman (Keith) of Asheboro, Karen Lovell of Asheboro, David Lovell (Sherry) of Eagle Springs and Kevin Lovell of Asheboro; his brothers, Joseph Eugene Patterson (Treva) of Raleigh, Clyde Patterson (Dorothy) of Wilson and Wrenn Patterson (Helen) of Apex; and his sister-in-law Denzal Patterson of Ramseur. He is also survived by 10 step grandchildren; and 10 step great grandchildren.
