She was loved and cherished by many people including: her former husband Robert Simmons; her parents, Lester Ferree and Lillian Murray Ferree Turpin; her sons, Dwayne Simmons and Douglas Simmons; her siblings, Larry Ferree and Doris Wallace; her granddaughter Dana Simmons; her husband Manley "Zeke" Councilman; her sons, Danny Simmons (Phyllis) of Ramseur and Darrell Simmons (Pam) of Siler City; her sisters, Joyce Garrell of Asheboro and Brenda Brown of Bennett; her stepchildren, Lisa Councilman of Stuart, FL and Scott Councilman of Asheboro; and her grandchildren, Tina Dixon, Wes Simmons, Keith Simmons, Gunner Councilman, Tristan Maynard, Heath Maynard and Sage Maynard. She was also cherished by four great-grandchildren.
