She was predeceased by: her former husband Steve Allen Smith; her son Steven Alexander "Alex" Smith; and her parents, Humphrey Hawes and Meta Hawes. She is survived by: her daughter Lori Ashli Basily (Victor); her stepdaughters, Paula Murray (Tim), Tracy Gentry (Chris) and Shawn Herring (Willie); and her sisters, Dorothy Gore, Betty Hill and Judy Gore (Danny). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, February 10th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Azor James Smith Family Cemetery (3166 Longwood Rd NW, Ash, NC 28420).
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations to honor Hilda go to the Women on Mission at Soldier Bay Baptist Church, PO Box 10, Ash, NC 28420.
