He is survived by : his mother Hattie Louise Long Simmons; his children, Ervin Dale Simmons, Jr. of Austin, TX, Brittany Elizabeth Schulman (Joseph) of Cass Lake, MN, Gina Simmons of Lumberton, NC and Victoria Rose Haney of Carolina Shores, NC; and his siblings, Eric Simmons (Tina) of Ash, NC, Tommy Simmons (Rita Reeves) of Whiteville, NC and Paula Babson of Ash, NC. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
