He is survived by: his sisters, Mary Jo Griffin and Shirley Robertson; his former wife Barbara Jean Sharpe; his stepgrandson Justin; his son Joseph M. Sharpe (Jill); his granddaughter Jessie Honeycutt (Jeremy); his great grandchild Elam Vance; his stepchildren, Derrick (Missy), Ron, Karen and Scott (Anna); his stepgrandchildren, Brandon, Tiffany (Josh), Holden, Neely, Madison, Lauren and Theo; his sister Linda McFee; his brothers-in-law, Butch (Sharon) and Dean (Debbie); his nieces and nephews, Anne, Leslie Gina, Angela, Keith, Robert, Edward, Clay and Rebekah; and his bestie dachshund Boomer.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made is his name to the National Kidney Foundation.
