He was predeceased by: his father Gordon Wright Morton; and his sisters, Louise Nicks, Martha Belle Touchstone and Margaret Hilton. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Marsh Morton; his children, Becky Dalton (Lynn), Martha Israel (Tom) and Melvin Edward Morton, Jr. (Mandy); his grandchildren, Rachel Anne Wollangk (Ryan), Chelsea Israel, Dustin Dalton (Annamarie), Cory Dalton (Jenny) and Jordan Dalton; and his great grandchildren, Eli Wollangk, Addie Dalton, Natalie Dalton, Blakely Dalton and Lucas Dalton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 223 Hillside St., Asheville, NC 28801.
