He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Alvin Nichols and Allie Vera Barker Nichols; his grandson Larry Thomas Hightower; and his siblings, Reba Chandler (Ted), Betty Renfro (Floyd), Nancy Nichols, Barbara Nichols, Mitzi Wallace (Rusty), Jerry Nichols, Pat Nichols, Ronnie Nichols (Charlie) and Joe Nichols.
He is survived by: his son Michael Dee Nichols; his wife Norma Jean Nichols; his daughter Theresa Ann Hightower (Darren); his siblings, Dorothy, Wanda, Hannah and Perry; his grandchildren, James Hightower, William Hightower (Meagan), Ashleigh Goff (Skyler) and Cordell Nichols; his great grandchildren, Courtney, Natalie, Phoebe and Savannah; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Harris (Mary) and Dudley Harris (Marion). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
