He was predeceased by: his parents, William Roe and Blanche Ruth Cheek Church; his son-in-law Steve Boucher; and his siblings, Jenna Wilcox, Margie Warrell and Carris Church.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Liz" Green Church; his children, Lynne Church Boucher of Trinity, William Joey Church (Bobbie) of Trinity and Duane Church (Marjorie) of High Point; his grandchildren, Holly Finney (Ryan), Heather Wang (Jay), Katie Lambert (Tim), Andrew Church (Lynn), Tim Church (Jenece), Elizabeth Church, Wil Church, Ayah Church, Christie Simmons and Allie Skeen (Phillip Love); his stepgranddaughter Kayla Barnes (Danny); and his siblings, Myrtle Church of Deep Gap, Janice Kimbro of West Jefferson, Joyce Sechrest (James) of Winston-Salem, Kendrick Church (Marsha) of Thomasville, Royce Church of Deep Gap and Wendell Church (Irene) of Trinity. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
