He was predeceased by: his parents, John Paul and Dorothy Marie Gordon Hughes; his daughters, Shanda Nicole Hughes and Heather Renee Hughes; and his nephews, Brock and Justin Thrift.
He is survived by: his wife Deborah Sullivan; his daughters, Candi Montesa (A. J.) of High Point and Jennifer Hughes of Thomasville; his siblings, Kimberly Hughes of Thomasville, Angela Moser (Cletus) of Thomasville and Timothy Hughes (Bobbie) of Kernersville; his grandchildren, Isabella Montesa, Madeline Montesa, Elizabeth Montesa, John Montesa, Merritt Montesa, Brittany Grice and Tre Grice; and his great grandchild Aiden Grice.
