He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lain and Laura Scott Lain; and his brother Delbert Lain. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Jean Lain; his sons, John Lain of Milford and Ron Lain of Milford; his stepdaughter Tammy Olson (Danny) of Sophia; his granddaughter Tiana King (Alex) of Thomasville; his siblings, Wilma Hilton, Kathy Epperly and Harold Lain; and his pets, Murphy and Tiger.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27205.
