He was predeceased by: his parents, Kennis Matney and Loujane Ashby Matney; and his wife Maggie Kennedy Matney. He is survived by: his son Edwin Matney (Lisa) of Trinity; his siblings, John Matney of Denton, Fred Matney of Harmony, Tony Matney (Wilkesboro), Brenda Justice of West Virginia and Pricey Justice of West Virginia; and his grandchild Chase Alexander Matney.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the New Home Old Regular Baptist Church (9638 E Old US Highway 64, Lexington, NC 27292). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
