She was predeceased by: her parents, Mamie Brown and Wesley J. Marsh; her husband James Elbert "Doc" Venable, Jr.; her former husband Fred Randall Phillips; and her siblings, Kemp Marsh, Boyd Marsh, Desta Tilley, Vallie Atkins and Lema Bryant.
She is survived by: her daughter Lu Ann Venable Browne; her son-in-law Charles E. Browne of Mount Airy; her granddaughters, Mary Beth Browne of Nashville, TN and Laura Browne of Mount Airy; and her close friend Coley Jones.
