He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ditzler and Ethel Ditzler; and his brother Charles Ditzler. He is survived by: his wife Karen Bender; his sister Margaret Sumter; and his sister-in-law Freda Ditzler. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephew.

Ron was much concerned about people facing hunger during the COVID pandemic.

Memorial contributions may be donated to The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
