He was predeceased by: his father James Cameron Kennedy; and his wife Wanda "Suzy" Kennedy. He is survived by: his children, Tamitha Renee Kennedy (Michael), Anthony Wayne Kennedy (Shelly) and James Douglas Kennedy (Farrah); his siblings, Sue Greene (Onnie), Betty Lou Hester (Tim), Vicki Barham, Ray Kennedy (Dottie) and Jimmy Kennedy (Kim); his grandchildren, Charles Wayne, Carissa Nekole (William), Alaena Rose, Nevan Blake, Christopher Douglas, Nathaniel Luke, Emily Jade, Andrew, Alex and Colby; and his close friend Jackie Gardner.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; or the Wounded Warrior Project.
